The aim of leading a healthy life should start with a proper plan of exercising and diet control. As a beginner for achieving a healthy body does not restrict you from getting the maximum out of your workout regime. The plan must include a chart of 'What to eat When to eat' and a chart of 'When to exercise' to enable you to get the maximum out of the workout plan you want to follow for weight loss.

Any successful diet; regardless of the principles upon which it is founded; must accomplish one single thing: it must create a situation in which you expend more calories than you consume. There can be no weight loss without that occurrence.

Things that you can do to facilitate weight loss while on any diet are:

1. Drink a lot of water. Especially cold water; as the body will use energy to heat it. 2) Try to walk at least a little each day. Walking is great for burning calories. 3) If possible; go for a swim. That is one of the best exercises as it uses so many muscle groups simultaneously. 4) Eat your last meal of the day well before bed time. 5) Be sure to eat breakfast every day; this will "jump start" the metabolism.

In looking for permanent weight loss methods; we should look for a method that takes into account the body's natural reaction to dieting...a decrease in the metabolic rate. It is sad but true, that in order to lose weight we need to consume fewer calories; but by consuming fewer calories; the metabolism will slow down in order to conserve calories.

There is only one weight loss program that I know of today that successfully overcomes the metabolic slow down that dieting always causes. It is based upon the concept of "calorie shifting". Calorie shifting is a technique whereby we alternate the types of foods that we eat and when we eat them. It also requires eating often to keep the metabolism running in high gear. This has the added benefit of ensuring that you never feel hungry. What these techniques accomplish is really quite simple; but very ingenious: it keeps the metabolism "off balance". By not allowing the metabolism to settle into a "routine" and thus slow down; it continues to run at its peak.
